The Sparta boys and the Chester girls cross country teams picked up impressive wins Tuesday in the Benton Six Plus meet.
The Bulldogs won the boys competition with a low score of 30 points followed by Chester (72), Benton (73) and Hamilton County (102).
Sparta’s top six runners all finished in the top 10 as Wade Reeves took second in the race, while Jon Hill finished fourth, Trevor Morgan (sixth), Adam White (seventh), Wes Bradshaw (ninth) and Tony Briscoe (10th).
Chester was led by Devin Valleroy’s eighth place finish.
The Lady Jackets topped the field with 66 points followed by West Frankfort (70), Benton (71), Sparta (81), Hamilton County (109) and Massac County (167).
Jillian Yankey took 10th place to lead Chester, while Kristina Wilson took third, Kelsi Wallace claimed fourth and Alexis Kohrs placed sixth to pace Sparta.
