The Sparta boys cross country team took third out of 18 teams at the Centralia Invitational Saturday.
Carbondale took first place with 85 points followed by Waterloo (90), Sparta (105), O’Fallon (165), Mt. Vernon (174), Triad (177), Edwardsville (197), Marion (203), Centralia (229), Salem (265), East St. Louis (297), Benton (303), Effingham (310), Chester (336), Mascoutah (403), Belleville East (407), Breese Mater Dei (410) and Springfield Lanphier (441).
For Sparta, Jon Hill led the way with a third place finish overall. Wes Bradshaw took seventh followed by Kenny Heaton (20th), Trevor Morgan (25th) and Dylan Huether (62nd).
For Chester, Devin Valleroy led the squad by placing 27th. Link Cushman crossed the finish line in 58th place followed by Verne White (100th), Zach Sternberg (101st), Kyle Landon (104th), Chris Schwartz (120th) and Brent Knop (135th).
