Chester advanced to the 2A Du Quoin volleyball regional semifinals before the top ranked team in the south, Murphysboro, ended their season Thursday night.
The Lady Jackets advanced to the semifinals with a 25-19, 25-4 win over Sesser-Valier earlier Thursday evening.
Devon Hecht led Chester with five kills and nine blocks, while Tiffani Marshall added three kills, six blocks and three points. Megan Atchison chipped in with five points, four assists, one kill and one dig, while Shelby Long finished with 13 points and three digs in the loss.
Chester played Murphysboro tough in the first set losing just 25-21, but it was all Lady Red Devils in the second as they cruised to a 25-9 victory.
Hecht paced the Lady jackets with three kills, one block and one assist, while Marshall added two kills, one block, two points, one assists and one dig. Atchison tossed in four points, two assists and one dig as Chester finished their season with a 11-22 record.
