In a battle of the two top teams in the Cahokia Conference Kaskaskia Division volleyball race, Steeleville topped Valmeyer 25-10, 25-17 Thursday night.
“Coming into this game Valmeyer was undefeated in the conference, our girls knew how important this game was to have a chance at becoming the conference champs,” said Steeleville coach Amy Brown. “We did a great job of coming out strong in the first and second games. Looking at the stats it was a team effort and everyone contributed. It was one of the most well-executed games we have played this year.”
Jessie Husband led the Lady Warriors with nine points and 19 assists, while Kayla Jeffers added nine points and 13 digs, and Jessica Troue finished with seven kills.
Steeleville improved to 16-9 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
