Local area represented well on All South volleyball team ... 12/14/09


Several local athletes were named to the All South volleyball team recently by the Southern Illinois Coaches Association.
Making the list from 1A included Steeleville’s Jessica Troue and Jessie Husband and Trico’s Mikayla Reid and Kaitlyn Phoenix.
In 2A, Maddy Keith of Pinckneyville along with Erica Gallois and Rachel Peck of Sparta made the team.
Troue made the all-tournament teams at Trico and Sparta along with being an all-conference selection. She had 255 kills and 76 blocks on the season.
Husband made the all-tournament team at Sparta and was also an all-conference selection in the Cahokia Conference. She finished the season with 494 assists, 32 aces, 63 kills and 101 digs.
Reid finished the season with 185 kills, 24 aces, 12 blocks and 297 digs.
Phoenix made the all-tournament teams at Trico and Sparta. She finished the season with 248 kills, 47 aces, 151 blocks and 45 assists.
Keith was an all-tournament team selection at Benton and also made the SIRR all-conference team. She had a 28.7 kill percentage and a 94 percent successful serve mark.
Peck was also an SIRR all-conference selection and finished the season with 273 kills with a 34.5 percent kill mark.
Gallois made the SIRR all-conference team and finished the season with 328 kills, 140 block points and had a 51.4 kill percentage.
