A total team effort by Trico led to a two-set sweep 25-10, 25-15 of Steeleville Wednesday night in prep volleyball action.
The Lady Pioneers scored the first five points of set one behind kills from Beth Daniels and Amie Conway. Trico would go on to cruise to the easy 25-10 set one victory as the team finished off the set with a 7-0 run.
Steeleville had trouble getting anything going offensively, failing to string together more than three points in a row.
Daniels had four kills in set one to lead Trico, including two during the 7-0 run to end the set.
In set two, Trico broke away from a 5-5 tie with a 13-3 run en route to a 25-15 victory for the two-set sweep.
Daniels added five more kills in set two, while Conway added two.
“It was good to get off to that quick start in set one,” said Trico coach Julie Rathert. “In volleyball, you always want to grab the momentum early and keep it throughout the match. Our seniors are playing really well right now, and our younger players are stepping up as well. The girls are having fun and that is the most important part.”
Alex Gale paced the Lady Warriors with three kills and two digs, while Brooke Rees added two kills and two assists.
With the win, Trico improved to 4-2 on the season.
