Trico knocks off Chester in three sets ... 9/30/10

All phases of the Trico volleyball team’s game were on Thursday night, and the Lady Pioneers topped Chester 25-19, 22-25, 25-14 to improve to 4-1 in Black Diamond West play.
Beth Daniels was a dominant force at the net, as she finished with a game high 19 kills to pace Trico. Kristin Myers chipped in with seven kills, while Amie Conway led the team with 25 assists.
“Beth was just Beth tonight,” said Trico coach Julie Rathert. “She is a great player. She had 23 kills in the loss to Christopher, and again tonight she led us with 19 kills.
Kristin is getting her timing down and had some good blocks. Amie was very consistent tonight setting the ball and on defense, as well. Courtney Brandon  finished with 13 digs tonight and really helped us on defense. Everybody is improving, and that is the most important thing. We had three freshmen playing out there tonight and they all played well.”
Trailing 17-14, the Lady Pioneers went on a 11-2 scoring run to win the first set 25-19. Daniels had nine kills in the opening set to get her team off to a good start.
After falling behind 2-0 early in set two, Chester scored six of the next seven points to take control and never trail again. Chester’s Tiffani Marshall ended the second set with two consecutive kills for a 25-22 victory.
With the game tied at 9-9, Trico rallied to score the next nine points behind kills from Myers, Conway and Kourtney Bunselmeyer. The Lady Pioneers never looked back and cruised to the 25-14 win in the decisive third set.
Marshall finished with seven kills to lead Chester, while Taylor Crum had a team high 12 assists.
With the loss, Chester dropped to 6-11 overall and 2-3 in conference play
