Sparta senior pole vaulter Cody Klein joined the 17 foot club Saturday at the Benton Spring Fling track meet.
The vault which was good enough to win the meet also ranks as the second best outdoor vault in the nation this year.
Klein’s prep teammates also put on a show at the meet where no team scores were kept.
Placing for Sparta in the meet included Wade Reeves (first place 3200 meter run 10:07 and first place 1600 meter run 4:38.8), Jon Hill (third place 1600 meter run 4:43), Bierman (second place 300 meter hurdles 43.7), Maurice Austin (third place 200 meter run 23.6), London Oliver (third place long jump 20’2 and third place triple jump 40’4.5) and Preston Nance (high jump).
The Sparta relays also took first in the 3200 meter (8:42.2), second in the 400 meter (45.1.3) and first in the 800 meter.
The Lady Bulldogs also fared well at the meet with a number of top three finishes.
Jackie Robinson took third in the long jump (15’10), second in the triple jump (32’3.75) and third in the 200 meter dash (28.3).
Aleigh Eggemeyer won the 3200 meter run (12:27.4) and the 1600 meter run (5:44), while Rachel Peck took first in the pole vault (9’) and Megan Cunningham won the 400 meter dash (1:04.7).
Other top showers for Sparta included Melyssa Bradshaw (second 800 meter run 2:37) and Kristina Wilson (third 800 meter run 2:38.3)
Sparta also took second in the 3200 meter relay and second in the 1600 meter relay.
Steeleville’s Jill Winkelman took second in the discus with a throw of 107’2.
