Sparta boys take first, girls tie with Chester for second at home meet ... 4/5/10


The Sparta boys took first, while the Lady Bulldogs tied for second in a home track meet held Monday.
The Bulldogs cruised to the win by racking up 162 points followed by Chester (76) and Gibault (11).
Sparta compiled 14 first place finishes in the boys competition. Winning events for the Bulldogs were Cody Klein in the pole vault (16’6), Preston Nance in the high jump (6’4), Corey Hale in the discus (124’2), London Oliver in the triple jump (40’3) and the long jump (21’3), Jon Hill in the 3200 meter run (10:48), Maurice Austin in the 100 meter dash (11.6) and the 200 meter dash (23.4), Wade Reeves in the 800 meter run (2:11) and Luke Nurnberger in the 400 meter dash (51.9).
Sparta also won the 3200 meter, 1600, 800 and 400 meter relays.
Chester won three events as Chad Koenegstein took first in the 110 meter hurdles (15.9) and the 300 meter hurdles (41.6) while Wes Cowan won the shot put (47’11).
On the girls side, Nashville took top honors with 106 points while Sparta and Chester tied for second with 74 and Gibault finished with 2.
The Lady Bulldogs won eight events as Rachel Peck took first in the pole vault (9’3), Jackie Robinson topped the field in the triple jump (33’3), long jump (16’) and the 200 meter dash (28.0), Aleigh Eggemeyer won the 3200 meter run (12:55) and the 1600 meter run (5:49), Melyssa Bradshaw took first in the 800 meter run and Megan Cunningham won the 400 meter dash (64.0).
Chester won the 400 meter relay and Rachel Young took first in the 100 meter dash (13.1).
