A number of local athletes fared well in the Illinois Prep Top Times indoor track meet held Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Chester sophomore Kyle Landon topped the field in the high jump clearing 6’8 to take first place, while teammate Jon Baughman took third in the pole vault.
The Sparta boys track team, who are expected to be one of the top teams once again in the south, placed in seven events.
Wade Reeves broke a school record and took second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:36.64.
Fellow long distance runner, Jon Hill claimed fourth in the 1600 meter run.
Seth Buch took 13th in the 200 meter dash and 23rd in the 55 meter, while Sparta senior London Oliver claimed eighth in the long jump.
In the relays, Sparta 4 x 800 team of Josh Bockhorn, Wes Bradshaw, Trevor Morgan and Hill took third, while the 4 x 200 team of Buch, Oliver, Sharvell Austin and Michael Weber took fourth.
No team scores were kept.
