All-South pitcher Bridges is out for two weeks due to a wrist injury and several other position players have encountered recent injuries. Sparta jumped out early and never looked back in the run -rule shortened game.
In the first inning, consecutive singles by Taylor Martin, Julian Sroka and Shanell Roberts led to the early two runs. Alexis Kohrs led off the second inning with a single and was sacrificed to third by Taylor Craig, after moving to second on a passed ball. Kohrs scored later on another pass ball.
The third and fourth inning put the game over the 10 run threshold, as in the two innings several infield errors by the Devils were taken advantage of with a couple of singles by Jamie Woodworth and a two out two RBI hit by Craig.
Alexis Kohrs picked up the win in the circle improving to 8-5 while striking out eight in four innings of work.

“We were really ready for the game but it certainly wasn’t the same team that had just wrapped up the Ohio Division side of the River-to-River conference championship,” said Sparta coach Roger Gerlach stated. “We did a nice job of staying patient and focused at the plate and did not give away too many at bats.”

Taylor Cicardi had a big game going 4-for-4 and having three RBIs. Emily Miller continued her hot hitting going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Sara Malanowski had another solid outing getting the win in the pitching circle. This was a good and athletic Marion ball club. I wasn’t expecting a win by this margin. Our team really played well offensively with 16 hits. We had 17 chances to hit with runners in scoring position and came through 10 times. That was impressive.”
