Red Bud 1
Marissa-Coulterville 0

Red Bud notched its fifth consecutive win of the season with a 1-0 win over Marissa-Coulterville Monday.
Despite getting outhit 7-3, Red Bud took advantage of four Marissa-Coulterville errors to score the game’s only run in the bottom of the second inning.
Ciara Schaeffer tossed all seven innings for the Lady Musketeers allowing no runs on seven hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
Ashley Lehmen was saddled with the loss even though she gave up no earned runs on three hits while striking out two.
Tori Albert went 2-for-2 to lead Red Bud, while Kaitlyn Thies drove in the winning run.
Corey Pitchford and Abbie Lehmen each had two hits to pace the Lady Meteor offense.
Red Bud improved to 5-2 with the win, while Marissa-Coulterville fell to 6-5 overall.
Du Quoin 5
Sparta 4

In the SIRR Mississippi Division opener for both teams, Sparta fell to Du Quoin 5-4 in eight innings Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in the top of the seventh to push the game into the eighth inning but failed to score in the top half of the eighth and Du Quoin converted in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
The loss was Sparta’s first of the season.
Taylor Martin gave the Bulldogs a big boost in the seventh inning picking up the one-out double off the right field fence scoring Jade Vaughn and Corrie Opolka who had reached on an error and a base on balls respectively. Julian Sroka and Shannell Roberts kept the inning going reaching on a hit by pitch and single, however, a pop up to the shortstop ended the seventh with runners on first and third.
Sroka got the start and went three innings giving up three runs on two hits before giving way to Alexis Kohrs who took the loss.  She pitched five innings striking out six while giving up seven hits.
“Du Quoin did a nice job of putting the ball in play when they needed to,” said Sparta coach Roger Gerlach. “I thought we did a nice job coming back late and giving ourselves a chance but just came out on the short end.”
Sparta’s overall record drops to 8-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
Pinckneyville 6
Anna-Jonesboro 5

Pinckneyville scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to sneak past Anna-Jonesboro 6-5 Monday in SIRR Mississippi Division softball action.
Anna-Jonesboro grabbed the early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
That lead would hold up until the sixth when the Lady Panthers scored six runs on  six hits which included two home runs.
Anna-Jonesboro battled back to score two runs in the bottom half of the sixth and one in the seventh for the one-run defeat.
“This was a big win on the road against a strong AJ team,” said Pinckneyville coach Greg Hale. We had clutch hitting in the sixth that proved to be the difference, six of our 10 hits came in the sixth. Big home runs by Emily Miller and Sara Malanowski. Emily Chapman did a great job coming in relief of Malanowski. “
 Malanowski earned the win, her fourth of the season and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs batted in. Miller finished the game with a home run and three RBIs.
With the win, Pinckneyville improved to 12-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Nashville 9
Chester 1

Nashville held Chester to one run on five hits to notch a 9-1 win Monday on the road in the conference opener for both schools.
Nashville scored all nine runs in the fourth inning, while Chester’s lone tally came in the bottom of the seventh.
Freshman Taylor Gross drove in Chester’s lone run, while Morgan Colvis took the loss for the Lady Jackets.
Colvis, Gross and Mollie Laramore were each 1-for-3 from the plate, while Lauren Hoops was 1-for-2.
With the loss, Chester drops to 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Marissa-Coulterville 8
Breese Mater Dei 4

Marissa-Coulterville picked up an impressive home victory Thursday by topping Breese Mater Dei 8-4
Christa Hill went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored to help lead the Lady Meteor offense, while Abbie Lehmen was 3-for-3 with three runs scored in the win.
Ashley Lehmen earned the win as she tossed all seven innings allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three.
Marissa-Coulterville improved to 6-4 on the season with the win.
Sparta 5
Trico 0

Sparta scored five runs in the fifth inning for a 5-0 win over Trico Thursday.
A leadoff double by Shanell Roberts opened the inning.  An error by the Pioneer left fielder allowed Alexis Kohrs to reach base.  Victoria Ward reached base on an infield error.  Two runs came across on a single by Allie Valleroy which set up an infield ground out and fielder’s choice to push across three more runs to take the five-run lead into the sixth inning.
Valleroy, who got the start, pitched four innings allowing three hits while striking out four. Kohrs came in relief in the fifth inning and was beneficiary of the five-run bottom of the fifth inning to get the win, pushing her record on the year to 4-0.
“It is great to be getting the chance to play these nonconference games before the conference schedule comes next week,” said Sparta coach Roger Gerlach. “We’ve had pretty decent weather this spring so far and that has allowed us to get these eight games in.  Everyone has had a chance to be put into a couple of different situations and the games have for the most part been very competitive and I’m happy the way the girls’ are competing.”
Corrie Opolka, Taylor Martin, Julian Sroka,  Roberts, Ward and Valleroy all had a hit in the 5-0 win.
Makayla Hartmann was saddled with the loss as she tossed all seven innings allowing five runs on six hits.
The Trico offense was led by Cassie Ortiz (1-for-2) and Katie Taylor (1-for-4).
With the win, Sparta improved to 8-0 on the season.
Pinckneyville 11
Steeleville 1

Pinckneyville ran out to score 11 runs in the first three innings and never looked back in a 11-1 win over Steeleville Thursday in just five innings.
The Lady Panthers scored four runs in the bottom of the first, four in the second and three in the third. Steeleville’s lone run came in the fourth with a solo home run off the bat of freshman Alex Gale.
Mo Ramsey led the Pinckneyville offense going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Kortney Crawford went 3-for-3 with two triples and a run batted in, while Dani Jenkel was 2-for-3 with a double and a run driven in.
Sara Malanowski picked up the win as she improved her season’s record to 6-0.
“We did what we needed to do to win,” said Pinckneyville coach Greg Hale. “A number of players got playing time.  Offensively we continue to be very productive.”
Jessica Troue and Morgan Lindner each had a hit to round out Steeleville’s three hits in the loss.
Red Bud 9
Mascoutah 2

Red Bud knocked off Mascoutah 9-2 Thursday on the road in nonconference softball action.
Tara Hubert earned the win as the Lady Musketeers improved to 4-2 on the season with the win. Hubert pitched six innings allowing no runs on three hits while striking out four.
Jessica Snyder drove in three runs for Red Bud, while Bianca Durbin and Amy Koester each went 2-for-3 in the win.
Red Bud improved to 4-2 on the season with the victory.
Trico 2
Chester 1

Courtney Brandon tossed seven innings allowing just a run on six hits and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Trico a 2-1 win over Chester Wednesday.
Chester took the game’s first lead with a run in the top of the second inning as Taylor Gross drove home Morgan Colvis from second base.
The Lady Pioneers rallied back scoring lone runs in both the sixth and seventh innings for the narrow win.
The Trico offense was paced by Jennifer McGill (1-for-2), Kaylee Boland (1-for-2), Megan Fults (1-for-2), Brandon (1-for-4 with an RBI).
Colvis finished the game going 2-for-3, while Mollie Laramore, Megan Atchison, Taylor Gross and Lauren Hoops each picked up a base hit in the loss.
Gross also took the loss for Chester on the mound as she allowed two runs on seven hits, striking out seven and walking three.
Trico improved to 2-3 on the season with the win, while Chester fell to 1-4.
Sparta 7
Okawville 4

Jamie Woodworth and Taylor Martin led the offense with multiple hit days at Okawville with Woodworth scoring two runs while Martin accounted for three runs as the two seniors combined for six of the overall 11 team hits in the 7-4  win Wednesday. 
Woodworth led the game off with a single and later scored on a Martin single up the middle.  Martin later came around to score on a pass ball.  Okawville tied the score with two runs in the third inning when Nicole Fisher slipped a two-out single down the right field line which was followed with a base on balls.  Both Rockets came around to score on the two-out double by Kaylyn Fuhrhop. 
Sparta regained the lead with two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings before adding a single insurance tally in the sixth.  Corrie Opolka, Julian Sroka, Alexis Kohrs and Jade Vaughn all tallied hits in the victory.
“Timely hitting really was important in the win.  We did a nice job of putting the ball in play at the right times,” said Sparta coach Roger Gerlach.
Sroka went the distance on the mound striking out seven while walking three to improve her personal record to 3-0 on the season.
With the win Sparta improved to 7-0 on the year.
