Herrin upsets Lady Panthers in sectional semifinals ... 5/27/10

In a roller-coaster like game, Herrin scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to upset Pinckneyville 7-6 in the Carterville Sectional semifinals Thursday.
The loss also marked the end of a Hall of Fame coaching career. Pinckneyville coach Greg Hale has retired after 27 years and 683 victories in the sport.
The Lady Panthers scored lone runs in the first three innings for a 3-0 advantage.
Herrin fought back scoring a run in the fourth, four in the fifth and another run in the sixth for a 6-3 lead.
Pinckneyville tied the game up in the top of the seventh by scoring three runs.
However, Herrin finished off the game in the bottom half of the inning for the remarkable win.
Emily Chapman suffered the loss for Pinckneyville, while Dani Jenkel was 2-for-3 with a RBI to pace the offense.
The Lady Panthers finished the season with a record of 35-2.
