The Marissa-Coulterville Lady Meteors softball team captured their second regional title in a row Friday in a wild 14-11 win over Lebanon in the Marissa 1A Regional championship game.
The potent Lady Meteor attack was led by Abbie Lehman (3-for-4 with 4 RBI) and Corey Pitchford, who reached base four times and drove in three runs. Ashley Lehman went the distance to earn the victory and also cranked out three hits.
With the score tied 11-11 in the bottom of the sixth, Lady Meteor center fielder Kendra Goss hit a single to right with two outs and the bases loaded to score the game-winning runs.
Marissa-Coulterville scored two runs in the bottom of the first and two in the second for a 4-0 lead.
Lebanon exploded for nine runs in the fourth but the Lady Meteors answered back with four runs in the bottom half of the frame.
In the fifth, Lebanon scored two runs, while Marissa-Coulterville scored three, as the game was tied 11-11.
Camille Bumann, Goss, Bailey Setzkorn and Chelsea Weekley all drove in two runs in the victory.
The Lady Meteors advance to the Lebanon Sectional Thursday and will play Mulberry Grove at 4:30.
