Lady Meteors top Trico 7-2 in nonconference action ... 4/18/11

Corey Pitchford set the tone of the game with her first at-bat to lead off the bottom of the first inning. The senior lined a pitch into an outfield gap for a triple and then just seconds later on an error to give Marissa-Coulterville the lead for good in a 7-2 win over Trico Monday.

The Lady Meteors scored four runs on two hits, a walk and two errors to take control early on.
Trico battled back in the third, scoring two runs on three hits and two walks. Consecutive hits by Katie Taylor, Courtney Brandon and Jordan Lodge loaded the bases for the Lady Pioneers with just two outs. Control issues flared up for Marissa-Coulterville starter Ashley Lehman in the inning, as the sophomore walked-in the next two runs before recording back-to-back outs to leave the bases loaded.
Lehman rebounded from the tough inning strong and didn’t allow another hit the rest of the way to pick up the victory. She tossed all seven innings allowing the two runs on three hits, while striking out seven.
Marissa-Coulterville rounded out the scoring with three runs in the third off two hits, two walks and an error.
Abbie Lehman scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch and then Courtney Bingel drove in two runs with a single for the 7-2 margin.
The Lady Meteors improved to 11-7 with the win.
