One bad inning was the difference for the Trico Lady Pioneers in a 7-2 loss to Goreville in the semifinals of the Goreville Sectional Friday.
Trico got off to a quick start, with a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Makayla Hartmann in the second inning.
A dropped fly ball in the outfield led to a big Goreville inning in the third, as the Lady Blackcats plated four runs to grab the lead for good.
Goreville added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Trico, looking for another late game rally, scored a run in the sixth inning off an RBI double from senior Cassie Ortiz. But no miracle finish was in the cards this time around for the Lady Pioneers.
With the loss, Trico ended its season with a 12-19 mark.
Freshman Jordan Lodge got the loss for Trico, while Ortiz was 2-for-3 to pace the offense.
