Lady Jackets take second, Sparta fourth at conference track meet ... 5/6/10


Nashville ran away with the SIRR Mississippi Division girls track and field title, racking up 162 points. Chester took second with 102 points followed by Anna-Jonesboro (98), Sparta (97), Du Quoin (48) and Pinckneyville (46).
The Lady Yellow Jackets were led by Rachel Young. The senior sprinter took second in the 100 meter dash, second in the 400 meter dash and third in the 200 meter dash.
Tiffani Marshall finished second in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the 300 meter hurdles. Jordan Clendenin won the pole vault, while Devon Hecht took second in the triple jump. Hanna Knop finished second in the discus.
In the relay events, Chester took second in the 800 and third in the 1600 meter.
For Sparta, Aleigh Eggemeyer won both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, while Jackie Robinson won the triple jump and took second in the long jump.
Melyssa Bradshaw won the 800 meter run and took second in the 1600 meter run, while Elizabeth Blair took second in the shot put. Rachel Peck finished second in the pole vault.
In the relay events, the Lady Bulldogs took second in the 3200.
Pinckneyville took first in the 400 and 800 meter relay and second in the 1600 meter relay. Pinckneyville’s Brand took third in the triple jump.
