Steeleville notched its second win over Chester in a week with a 45-39 victory Monday night in the Lady Jackets’ home opener.
The Lady Warriors ran out to a 11-6 lead in the first quarter and held a slim 22-19 advantage at halftime.
Steeleville outscored Chester 12-9 in the third quarter and held off the Lady Jackets in the fourth to seal the win.
Jill Winkelman led all scorers with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Alex Gale posted 10 points and 11 rebounds. Natalie Ruebke finished with eight points and eight rebounds, while Megan Lalis tossed in six points, and had 12 rebounds.
Steeleville evened up its record with the win as the team improved to 3-3 on the season.
Hilary Best scored a team high 12 points, while Shelby Helmers and Megan Marcinkowski each added seven in the loss. The Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 1-5 on the season with the defeat.
