Chester and Steeleville wrapped up its play in the Du Quoin Tip-Off Classic Tuesday night as the Lady Yellow Jackets fell to Johnston City and Steeleville topped Elverado.
Steeleville 52, Elverado 29
Steeleville picked up its second win ever with a 52-29 victory over Elverado.
Megan Lalis scored a game high 15 points, while Jill Winkelman added 13 points and nine rebounds, and Natalie Ruebke finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lady Warriors took fourth in the tournament with a 2-3 record.
Winkelman and Ruebke were selected to the all-tournament team.
Johnston City 38, Chester 33
Chester played the eventual tournament champions tough, grabbing a 10-0 lead to start the game, but Johnston City rallied for a 38-33 win to finish tournament play undefeated.
In the second quarter, Johnston City outscored Chester 19-4 for a 21-14 halftime advantage.
Johnston City outscored the Lady Jackets 11-10 in the third for a 32-24 lead heading into the fourth.
The Lady Jackets fought back in the final eight minutes, outscoring Johnston City 9-6, but fell just short at the end.
Hilary Best finished with a game high 14 points, while Allison Miller added eight points.
Best was Chester’s lone selection to the all-tournament team.
Chester finished fifth in the six-team tournament with a 1-4 record.
