Pinckneyville outscored Okawville 17-6 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 51-42 victory Saturday.
The Lady Panthers led 8-6 at the end of the first quarter and 24-20 at the intermission.
Okawville fought back in the third quarter, outscoring Pinckneyville 16-10 for a 36-34 advantage heading into the fourth.
“We did our best job of playing hard for four quarters tonight,” said Pinckneyville coach Alan Engelhardt. “The nice thing to see was that we were able to play through a little adversity, which is something we haven't done a great job of so far. Even when our shots weren’t falling, we continued to guard and play hard.”
Pinckneyville’s Emily Miller was nearly impossible to stop as she finished with a game high 33 points in the win.
“Emily Miller came up big tonight, finding ways to score when our offense bogged down,” added Engelhardt. “I thought we were much more patient running through our offense tonight, trying to get points at the rim rather than just firing away from behind the arc, which will pay off in the long run as well. I think we are heading in the right direction as we get into the Christmas holiday. We need to have a good week of practice now and to get ready for the Herrin Tournament.”
With the win, Pinckneyville improved to 9-2 on the season.
