Emily Miller surpasses 1,000 point mark in Pinckneyville's win over Du Quoin ... 1/28/10

Emily Miller surpassed the 1,000 points career mark, while teammate Taylor Cicardi exploded for 31 points to lead Pinckneyville to an easy win over Du Quoin 75-34 Thursday night.
“First off, I want to say congratulations to Emily Miller for becoming just the fifth Pinckneyville girls basketball player to reach the 1,000 point plateau,” said Pinckneyville coach Alan Engelhardt. “She stuffed the stat sheet again tonight with 12 points, eight steals, six assists, and six rebounds. Taylor Cicardi came up big for us again, putting up 31 points, pulling down 14 rebounds, and grabbing seven steals.  We really shared the ball well, racking up 20 assists on the night. I'm really happy with how we pushed the ball on offense to get some high quality looks at the rim, and we did a nice job of getting deflections on defense so we could go get turnovers.  Our next step is putting forth this type of effort every night.”
The Lady Panthers raced out to a 23-4 lead in the first quarter and held a 38-16 halftime advantage. Pinckneyville outscored Du Quoin 37-18 in the second half for the 41-point conference win.
With the victory, Pinckneyville improved to 17-8 on the season and 5-3 in conference play.
