Pinckneyville scored 66 points in the first half, and outscored Benton in every quarter, as the Lady Panthers rolled to a 105-51 win Thursday night in nonconference action.
“It was nice to see the girls go out and just have fun,” said Pinckneyville coach Alan Engelhardt. “We looked for shots tonight instead of thinking about whether to shoot, and it led to us stepping into some good looks. What was nice to see, was even though we were shooting the ball pretty well, no one got greedy. We kept sharing the ball with each other to get everyone open looks. And it paid off with six girls getting into double figures, and three more ending up with seven, eight and nine points. Balance like that makes it fun for everyone to play. Hopefully, this gives us a little bit of confidence as we head into the Nashville game Monday.”
Pinckneyville led 35-7 at the end of the first quarter and 66-21 at halftime. The Lady Panthers outscored Benton 39-30 in the second half for the 54-point win.
Maddy Keith led Pinckneyville with 16 points, while Dani Jenkel and Cheyanne Conner each added 14. Katrina Henson finished with 13 points and Taylor Cicardi tossed in 10.
Pinckneyville improved to 6-0 on the season with the win.
