The Marissa-Coulterville Lady Meteors outscored Alton Marquette in every quarter en route to a convincing 56-40 win Wednesday night to win fifth place at the Lebanon Christmas Tournament.
Marissa-Coulterville led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter and 28-21 at halftime. The Lady Meteors continued to rollin the second half, outscoring Alton Marquette 12-11 in the third and 16-8 in the fourth.
Kara Wine had a big night for the Lady Meteors scoring 27 points, while Dena Malkin added 11 and Chelsea Weekley added eight.
With the win, Marissa-Coulterville finished tournament play with a 3-1 record and improved its season mark to 11-3.
In earlier tournament action,the Lady Meteors knocked off New Athens and Columbia, but fell to Madison.
The Lady Meteors rolled to a 66-19 win over New Athens Saturday. Kara Wine led the attack with 22 points and eight steals, while Dena Malkin added eight points.
Monday, Marissa-Coulterville edged out Columbia 45-42 in overtime. Wine finished with 12 points, while Paige Phelps added 10 and Brittany Sloan had seven.
The Marissa-Coulterville winning streak was snapped Tuesday night with a 71-59 loss to Madison. Malkin led the way with 23 points and Sloan added 10.
