Pinckneyville 64, Anna-Jonesboro 46
The Lady Panthers opened up conference play with a decisive 64-46 victory over Anna-Jonesboro Tuesday night.
“This was by far the hardest we played this year,” said Pinckneyville coach Alan Engelhardt. “We made a decision to try to rotate eleven girls in so that we would get out and pressure the ball better than we have all year, and to the girls credit, they bought in and played their butts off. I thought AJ was the most talented team we have played, but we wore them out at the end of the second and through the third quarters, getting stops and in turn getting some easy baskets. If we can continue to guard and play hard like we did tonight and keep up the unselfish attitudes, we have the chance to continue to have success.”
Pinckneyville trailed 12-8 at the end of the first quarter but went on to outscore Anna-Jonesboro 22-13 in the second, 17-5 in the third and 17-16 in the fourth for the 18-point win.
