Nashville doubles up Sparta, 52-26 ... 10/16/09


Nashville piled up 412 yards of total offense in their doubling up of Sparta 52-26 Friday night.
Nashville scored 16 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second quarter for a 38-12 lead at halftime.
The Bulldogs were trailing 12-0 when London Oliver ran past the Nashville defense for a 32-yard touchdown run with 2:25 left in the first quarter.
Sparta struck again late in the second quarter as David Sams sprinted past the Hornets’ defense for a 89-yard kickoff return as the Bulldogs trailed 30-12 with 1:41 left in the first half.
Nashville crushed any ideas for a Sparta rally by scoring with only 16 seconds remaining in the opening half to take the 38-12 halftime lead.
The Hornets outscored Sparta 15-14 in the second half for the 26-point victory.
Oliver finished with 65 yards on six carries to lead the Sparta offense, while Darius Jackson was nine-of-17 passing for 166 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Sparta fell to 0-8 on the season, while Nashville improved to 4-4 with the win. The Bulldogs will travel to Red Bud (6-2) in the regular season finale.
