Vienna-Goreville piled up 363 yards on offense while holding Elverado-Trico to just 124 yards on offense in a 40-14 win Saturday in Vienna.
The Falcons’ best drive of the game came in the first quarter as they trailed 8-0. Elverado-Trico put together a 10-play 90-yard drive that was highlighted by runs of 40 and 20 yards by Randy Goetz that setup a three-yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Alex McGill. The kick failed, and with 7:10 to play in the first quarter, the Falcons trailed 8-6.
Vienna-Goreville answered by scoring the next 32 points en route to the 26-point win in Black Diamond Conference action.
Goetz finished with 64 yards to lead the Elverado-Trico attack, while McGill completed 3-of-17 passes for 52 yards with three interceptions.
Elverado-Trico fell to 0-5 on the season, while Vienna Goreville improved to 2-3.
The Falcons will host Hamilton County (3-2), who have won three straight, Friday night in Elkville.
