Fairfield runs over Elverado-Trico 44-0 in Black Diamond Conference football action ... 8/27/10

Elverado-Trico (0-1) had a hard time containing Fairfield (1-0) running back Cameron Williams, as he ran for 156 yards on 12 carries with five touchdowns, including four in the second quarter, as the Mules ran away from the Falcons 44-0 Friday night.
“It was an ugly game,” said Elverado-Trico coach Duffy Sanders. “I am disappointed in the result. It is hard to win ballgames when you turn the ball over five times.”
Fairfield scored 14 points in the opening quarter, both on one-yard touchdown runs, before adding 30 points in the second quarter.
The Mules finished with 300 yards rushing, while Elverado-Trico was held to 48 yards on the ground. The Falcons did, however, gain 100 yards through the air.
“There were some bright spots in the loss,” added Sanders. “Alex McGill threw the ball very well, and our receivers made some good catches.”
McGill completed 7-of-13 passes for 100 yards, with an interception, to lead the Elverado-Trico offense. Dalton Porter caught five passes for 65 yards while carrying the ball eight times for 40 yards.
“We just need to take care of the ball better and improve our running attack,” said Sanders.
The Falcons host Eldorado (1-0) Friday night.
