Clint Cole a former Chester football standout, who transferred to Vienna this year, ran the ball seven times for 115 yards with two touchdowns to lead the Eagles past Elverado-Trico 28-6 Saturday.
Cole gave his team the lead for good with a 56-yard touchdown run with 4:35 to play in the first quarter.
Just under four minutes later, Vienna made the score 14-0 as Ryan Brown recovered a fumble and returned it 36 yards for the score.
The Eagles would score another touchdown in the first half, a 16-yard run by Patrick Gray, for a 21-0 lead at the break.
Midway through the third quarter, Cole struck again, this time with a 44-yard touchdown run and his team held a commanding 28-0 lead.
With just one second remaining in the game, Elverado-Trico finally got on the scoreboard as senior quarterback Alex McGill scored from one-yard out.
The Falcons were held to 13 yards rushing on 37 attempts. McGill completed 9-of-22 passes for 57 yards with two interceptions.
Vienna gained 207 yards on the ground on 31 attempts and added 13 yards through the air in the win.
Vienna improved to 2-3, while Elverado-Trico dropped to 1-4. The Falcons will travel to Chester Friday night to take on the 1-4 Yellow Jackets.
