Johnston City held Chester to just one first down in the second half while outscoring the Yellow Jackets 16-0 for a 22-7 victory Friday night.
The Indians grabbed the early lead with a 30-yard touchdown run by Izzy Garrison in the first quarter. The extra point kick failed and with 8:49 to play in the first quarter, Johnston City was up 6-0.
That lead would hold up until Chester sophomore Joel Clendenin broke loose on a 54-yard touchdown run. Austin Redeker made good on the extra point kick and the Yellow Jackets led 7-6 at the break.
The second half was all Johnston City.
The Indians scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half to pull away with the victory.
Johnston City finished the game with 288 rushing yards on 46 attempts, while Chester was held to 171 yards on the ground on 29 carries.
Clendenin led Chester with 139 yards on 13 carries.
Johnston City improved to 4-1 on the season, while Chester dropped to 1-4.
The Jackets will host Elverado-Trico (1-4) Friday night.
