Chester wasn’t given any favors for coming into the Black Diamond Conference, as the Yellow Jackets have to face defending grid-iron conference champions Sesser-Valier in the season opener.
This game is important for both squads, as they look for a good start to the season and an important conference win.
Sesser-Valier went a perfect 9-0 through the conference last season, but many of those key parts have now graduated. Chester also lost a lot to graduation, but the Yellow Jackets return more at the skill positions.
“We are playing the conference’s best right off the start,” said Chester coach Bryan Lee. “These guys ran the table last year, and they want to defend that title this season. They are very well coached and they use a multiple of different styles of offense, which makes it harder to prepare for.
Chester’s defense should be the difference in this game. If the Yellow Jackets can limit turnovers and control the game on the ground as expected, they win by at least two touchdowns.
