Eldorado holds down Falcons 30-0 ... 9/3/10

Eldorado scored 24 points in the third quarter to pull away with a 30-0 win over Elverado-Trico Friday night in Elkville.
The Falcons trailed just 6-0 at halftime, but two big offensive plays and a special teams return from Eldorado allowed the Eagles to coast to the victory.
Eldorado scored three touchdowns in the final eight minutes of the third quarter as Brian Ward scored on a 38-yard pass from Joe Blair. Nick Stewart returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown and Turner scored on a 55-yard scamper.
“We played great defensively,” said Elverado-Trico coach Duffy sanders. “We just got caught a couple times in the wrong formation and Eldorado took advantage of those situations. This team didn’t give up and they played hard the entire game. The effort was there. We just have to make adjustments to better ourselves.”
Eldorado racked up 246 yards on the ground and 48 yards through the air. While, the Falcons were held to 38 yards rushing on 26 carries and 81 yards passing.
The Elverado-Trico offense was led by Randy Goetz (57 yards rushing) and Alex McGill (12-of-28 for 81 yards passing).
The Eagles offense was paced by Caid Griffin (116 yards rushing).
The Falcons drop to 0-2 on the season with the loss and will travel to take on Johnston City (2-0) Friday night.
