After going through their inaugural season in the Black Diamond Conference with an 8-1 record, the Chester Yellow Jackets received the number four seed in the Class 1A south bracket.
Chester will host the 13 seed Hardin Calhoun (6-3) Saturday at 1 p.m.
“Calhoun runs a triple option offense and are not particularly big,” said Chester coach Bryan Lee. “They are very quick off the ball and have some playoff experience. They are a very good team and are a very dangerous first round team. I think we matchup up well against them and we have a slight edge on speed.”
Calhoun, which fans call themselves the River Rats, knocked off a number two seed in the first round of the playoffs last year. The Warriors have just two wins over teams with a winning record this season and both those teams finished the season at 5-4.
Whichever team can control the line of scrimmage and avoid turnovers will advance in this run-dominated first round matchup.
