The Chester defense recorded its second straight shutout, and the team improved to 3-0 with a 40-0 victory over Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton Friday night at W.O. Smith Field.
The Yellow Jackets held CZR to just 86 yards of total offense, while nearly clipping the 400-yard mark with their offense.
Clint Cole scored from six yards to get the scoring started, and it was all Chester from then on out.
John Baughman gave his team a 12-0 lead with a four-yard dash. Then Cole scored two touchdowns, as he pulled down a 49-yard pass from Zach Lochhead and then scored from 20 yards out and Chester was up big 26-0 at halftime.
Justin Eggemeyer put the game out of reach early in the third quarter as he pulled down a 14-yard touchdown pass from Lochhead. Baughman rounded out the game’s scoring with 6:15 to play in the third, as he returned a punt 69 yards for a score.
Chester’s rushing attack finished the game with 269 yards on 39 carries, while Lochhead completed 4-of-5 passes for 119 yards.
Cole finished with 73 yards on just seven attempts to lead Chester. Baughman added 68 yards on the ground, while Stephen Roth had 51.
Chester (3-0) travels to Elkville to face Elverado-Trico (0-3) in a rare Saturday afternoon game.
