According to the IHSA, Chester High School will drop back to down to 1A in four-class sports.
The tentative announcement was made Monday by the IHSA. The change will affect Chester sporting teams in volleyball, boys and girls basketball, baseball and softball while golf, cross country and track will not be affected by the change.
This will be the second time in three years that Chester will be competing in 1A.
The enrollment cutoff for class 1A is projected at 341. In 2008-2009, Chester had the largest class 1A enrollment in the state.
