Pinckneyville took second place while Chester finished in fifth in a boys golf match held at the Red Hawk Golf Club Thursday.
Murphysboro topped all the team with a low team score of 160 followed by Pinckneyville (172), Du Quoin (185), Johnston City (192), and Chester (210).
The Pinckneyville team was led by Preston Chapman ,whose low round of 36 was the best of the day. Adam Valetine shot a 41 for the Panthers followed by Justin Jenkel (46), and Haydon Kelly (49).
For Chester, Brett Barthol carded a 43 while Sam Higgerson shot a 48 followed by Jonavan Richelman (50), and Tommy Pfeiffer (69).
