Nashville edged Sparta by 28-strokes Tuesday to win the Southern Illinois River-to-River Mississippi Division boys golf title.
Nashville finished with a low team score of 335 followed by Sparta (363), Pinckneyville (368), Anna-Jonesboro (402), Du Quoin (405), and Chester (435) at the Stone Creek Golf Course in Makanda.
Nashville senior Braeden Holzhauer carded a 79 to win the conference title as an individual, beating Sparta’s Kaleb Kessler by just one stroke. It was the second straight second place finish for Kessler in the conference tournament.
Along with Kessler, Sparta’s Jordan Thompson shot an 82 to receive all conference honors.
Chester was led by Brett Barthol’s 87 as he missed the all conference team by one stroke.
