Trico outscored Sesser-Valier 18-3 in the third quarter to pull out a 57-48 win on the road Saturday night to claim the top spot in the Black Diamond West.
Both teams came in undefeated in conference play, but the balanced scoring attack of the Pioneers proved to be too much in the nine-point win.
Logan Thies led Trico with 16 points, while Jesse Smith added 14 and Chase Heins and Tyler Coleman each finished with 11.
Trico trailed 12-11 in the first quarter and were down 23-18 at halftime.
With the 18-3 third quarter, the Pioneers outscored Sesser-Valier, which was without one of its top players in Justin Matyi, 39-25 in the second half.
