Madison used a 10-0 scoring run in the first quarter to take an early lead and roll to a 72-55 win over Sparta Saturday in the 12th annual Lebanon/McKendree Thanksgiving Tournament.
With the scored tied at 11, Madison scored the final 10 points of the first quarter to take control of the game.
Sparta trailed 35-22 at halftime and could get no closer than 11 points in the second half.
“Madison is a very quick and athletic team,” said Sparta coach Rich Williams. “We gave them too many second chance points and allowed them to get too many easy layups. We learned some lessons from tonight and we will hit practice hard and come back.”
London Oliver scored 13 points to lead Sparta. With the loss, Sparta fell to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in tournament play.
