Du Quoin outscored Sparta in every quarter including 23-12 in the second period for a 74-50 victory Friday night in the conference opener for both squads.

The Bulldogs fell behind 14-13 in the first quarter and trailed 37-25 at halftime. Du Quoin would go on to outscore Sparta 22-16 in the third and 15-9 in the fourth for the 24-point win.

J.C. Davis led Du Quoin with 16 points.

Dartanus White finished with 14 points and David Sams added 10 to lead the Sparta offense.

With the loss, Sparta fell to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
