Chester picked up its first win of the season and its first win under first year head coach Robert Bell with a 76-37 beating of Valmeyer to finish fifth at the Okawville Post-Thanksgiving Tournament Thursday night.
The Yellow Jackets ran out to a 27-11 lead in the first quarter and held a 48-24 lead at halftime. Chester put the game away in the second half by outscoring Valmeyer 15-7 in the third and 13-8 in the fourth.
MJ Hamilton led Chester offense with 14 points, while Zach Lochhead added 12, Aaron Grah finished with 11 and Brett Barthol tossed in 10.
The Jackets improved to 1-2 on the season and will travel to Steeleville to take on the Warriors Tuesday.
