Trico 52, Du Quoin 36
Trico used a strong second half to blow out Du Quoin Saturday 52-36.
The Pioneers led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter but trailed 23-22 at the intermission.
In the second half, the Pioneers outscored Du Quoin 12-5 and 16-6 for the 16-point win.
Daron Meyerhoff led the way with 15 points, while Chase Heins added 12.
Trico improved to 14-3 overall with the win.
Red Bud 73, Valmeyer 46
Red Bud ran out to a 21-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a 73-46 win over Valmeyer Saturday.
The Musketeers led 32-21 at halftime and outscored Valmeyer 27-013 and 14-12 to stroll to the win.
Jacob Kueker led Red Bud with 18 points, while Garrett Salger had 17. Alex Phegley added 12 in the win.
Pinckneyville 42, Sparta 35
Pinckneyville built an 11-point lead in the first half and then held off Sparta down the stretch for a 42-35 victory Friday night.
The Panthers led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter and held a 24-13 lead at the break.
Sparta fought back to outscore Pinckneyville 22-18 in the second half but couldn’t pull out the upset.
Payton Nippe was a perfect 14-of-14 from the line and finished with 18 points to lead the Panthers.
Aaron Rushing led Sparta with 18 points in the loss.
With the loss, Sparta dropped to 3-13 overall and 0-5 in conference play.
Breese Central 64, Red Bud 26
Breese Central held Red Bud to under double figures in scoring in all four quarters en route to a 64-26 win Friday night.
The Musketeers fell behind 14-5 in the first quarter and trailed 27-9 at the break.
Breese Central pulled away in the second half outscoring Red Bud 19-9 in the third and 18-8 in the fourth.
Brandon Book had 23 points for Central.
Jason Greer and Jacob Kueker each had seven to pace Red Bud, while Alex Phegley added six.
