After beating Valmeyer last week to open up play in the Okawville Post Turkey Tournament, Marissa-Coulterville dropped the next two decisions to Woodlawn and Okawville before beating New Athens for third place.
Okawville won its own tournament by knocking off Woodlawn.
Marissa-Coulterville 44, New Athens 35
Joey Smith posted a game-high 26 points to lead Marissa-Coulterville past New Athens 44-35 Friday night. The win secured third place for the Meteors.
The Meteors led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter and 28-18 at the break.
Woodlawn 61, Marissa-Coulterville 39
Woodlawn held Marissa-Coulterville to just three points in the first quarter en route to a 61-39 win Thursday night.
The Meteors trailed 21-3 at the end of the first quarter and 30-16 at intermission.
Woodlawn iced the win in the second half, outscoring the Meteors 31-21.
Marissa-Coulterville senior guard Joey Smith led all scorers with 20 points, while Austin Place added seven.
Okawville 65, Marissa-Coulterville 48
A rough second quarter by Marissa-Coulterville was the difference in a 65-48 loss to Okawville last Wednesday night.
The game was tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter but Okawville took over from there outscoring the Meteors 22-11 in the second, 18-14 in the third and 15-13 in the fourth for the 17-point win.
Joey Smith scored 24 points to pace the Meteors, while Austin Place had eight and Lucas Baird finished with seven.
