Chester went 2-2 in the annual Ernie Bozarth Thanksgiving Tournament to take third place out of five teams.
After falling to Murphysboro last week to start the tournament, The Yellow Jackets beat Cleveland (St. Louis) and Carnahan JV before losing to Carterville.
Junior guard Caleb Arbeiter was Chester's lone selection to the five player all -tournament team.
Murphysboro went a perfect 4-0 to win the tournament, while Carterville took second with just one loss.
Carterville 46, Chester 37
Carterville outscored Chester 13-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 46-37 win Saturday evening.
The Yellow Jackets trailed 14-6 at the end of the first quarter and 23-14 at halftime.
Chester battled back in the third quarter, outscoring Carterville 17-10, to cut the deficit to two points, 33-31, heading into the fourth period.
Matt Heberlie led Chester with 12 points, while Reed Koeneman added six.
Chester 62, Cleveland 31
Chester fell behind 14-11 in the first quarter but regrouped to outscore Cleveland 51-17 the rest of the way for a 62-31 win Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets outscored Cleveland 13-5 in the second quarter for a 24-19 lead at the break. Chester put the game away in the second half, outscoring their opponent 11-7 in the third and 27-5 in the fourth.
Link Cushman led Chester with 13 points, while Caleb Arbeiter and Reed Koeneman each had 11.
Chester 76, Carnahan JV 40
Chester notched its first win of the season with a 76-40 victory over the junior varsity squad of Carnahan (St. Louis).
Chris Schwartz led Chester with a game-high 26 points, 15 of which came in the opening quarter.
The Yellow Jackets led 49-21 at the break.
Reed Koeneman finished with 15 points and Cody Mileur added 11.
