Okawville 48, Marissa-Coulterville 34
Okawville outscored Marissa-Coulterville by eight points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 48-34 win in the first round of the Okawville tournament Monday.
The Meteors trailed 7-6 in the first quarter and 18-12 by halftime.
Each team scored nine points in the third before the Rockets outscored Marissa-Coulterville 21-13 over the final eight minutes of play.
Joey Smith paced the Meteors with 15 points, while Kevin Galle added eight.
With the loss, Marissa-Coulterville dropped to 0-2 on the season.
Pinckneyville 68, West Frankfort 32
Pinckneyville opened up the season by outscoring West Frankfort in every quarter including 32-10 in the second half for a 68-32 victory Saturday.
The Panthers led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter and 36-22 at halftime before blowing the game open in the second half.
The Panthers nailed nine three-pointers in the win as Bryant Shute made four trifectas  and finished with 14 points and Hunter Queen made three threes and also finished with 14 points.
