Steeleville scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning, while Dustin Risinger tossed five excellent innings allowing no runs on just three hits to lead the Warriors to a 10-0 win Monday.
After Risinger tossed a perfect top half of the first inning, the Steeleville offense scored 10 runs on three hits, five walks and three hitters hit by pitches.
Nick Potter got the scoring started with an RBI single, while Seth Troue drove in two runs with a single and Josh Diercks picked up three runs batted din with a bases clearing double.
The Warriors would be held off the scoreboard for the rest of the game as they coasted to the victory, but Risinger had all the runs he needed as he went the rest of the way for the shutout win, his first of the season.
“Dustin got ahead of the batters all day,” said Steeleville coach Jon Sutton. “He did just what we needed because we have three more games this week.”
Diercks finished the game going 2-for-2, while Potter was 1-for-3 and Troue was 1-for-3.
Steeleville improved to 2-2 on the year with the victory.
“I am happy with the way things are going right now,” said Sutton. “The guys are very coachable and they are working hard. We are just trying to get better each day. We are playing as a team right now and I just hope we continue to improve as we have been.”
