One of the winningest high school baseball coaches in the area has resigned.
According to the Marissa school district, coach Jason Smith has resigned to spend more time with his family.
Smith won 191 games in nine seasons and finished second at the state tournament in back-to-back years.
He will continue to teach driver's education and physical education, as well as coach golf at Marissa.
The job opening has been posted within the school district.
Smith replaced former Marissa athletic director Andrew Johnson as the baseball coach in 2003 and won two regionals his first two seasons.
The Meteors were 19-8 last season and won their fourth consecutive regional title.
