Brad Blakey, 36 of West Frankfort and Marla Rathjen, 48 of Jacob claimed the top honors at the Steeleville Firecracker 3K Race held Monday morning during Steeleville’s Fourth of July celebration.
Blakey finished with a time of 10 minutes and three seconds to be the top overall finisher while Rathjen crossed the line at 12 minutes and 21 seconds to be the top female.
Jon Hill, 16 of Sparta was second overall followed by James Wooldridge, 47 of Herrin (third); Wes Bradshaw, 15 of Walsh (fourth); Shyler Mathis, 26 of Carterville (fifth); Tony Briscoe, 18 of Sparta (sixth); Trevor Morgan, 16 of Sparta (seventh); Korey Chapman, 31 of Belleville (eighth); Brad Warhausen, 37 of Steeleville (ninth); and John Jones, 44 of Carrier Mills (10th).
Other top local runners included Calen Lalis, 19 of Steeleville (12th), Dustin Neff, 18 of Lenzburg (13th); Chris Theobald, 18 of Sparta (14th), Marvin Bockantin, 36 of Pinckneyville (16th); and Reid Wilson, 15 of Steeleville (17th).
In the women’s competition, Aleigh Eggemeyer, 18 of Walsh, took second followed by Stephanie Schneider, 24 of Steeleville (third); Ashlee Childers, 12 of Herrin (fourth); and Molly Works, 16 of Lenzburg (fifth); Lindsay Mueller, 25 of Steeleville (sixth); Sara Chapman, 31 of Belleville (seventh); Natalie Ruebke, 16 of Steeleville (eighth); Kristina Wilson, 17 of Sparta (ninth); and Kelsi Wallace, 14 of Sparta (10th.)
